The first draft of We'll Always Have Paris was completed in December 2023.

The play was selected as a finalist for The Adam New Play Award—New Zealand’s national new play competition—in April 2024, where an excerpt from the play was featured in a live reading at the official ceremony held at Wellington’s Circa Theatre.

Building on this momentum, the piece underwent a two-day R&D workshop at Theatre Deli in May 2024 under the direction of Scott Le Crass.

By February 2025, with support from Bespoke Plays, the project reached its next phase with two staged readings at The Union Theatre, directed by Mimi Collins, earning the following praise from Everything Theatre:
